Design led futures (DLF) as the name suggests works on the premise that the future is not predetermined or predictable, but fluid and able to be influenced through design. Its goal is to propose provocative yet possible scenarios that extend our understanding of current trajectories offering new directions and perspectives.

Weta Worskhop are the client for this years project ‘4th World Architecture’ that will explore long term (80 year out) future scenarios for the 3rd World. One main project will run through the trimester allowing you the opportunity to create highly resolved final design propositions. You will work in self selected groups of 6-7 people from both disciplines (Industrial and Media) with each person having defined areas of responsibility. We have found that the group structure creates a more critical and reflective approach allowing shared risks and the opportunity for individuals to focus on areas of interest and strength.

On the completion of the paper your work (dependent on quality) will be placed onto the DLF web site. The DLF advisory board will also review the work to determine if additional sponsorship can be found to create professionally produced (by Weta) short films based on your ideas.
